George Richard Chamberlain (born March 31, 1934) is an American actor who appeared in the television show Dr. Kildare and in several popular miniseries, including Centennial, Shogun, and The Thorn Birds.
He was a teen idol in the 1960s, but came to dislike fame-seeking in Hollywood and and turned to the theater, finding success in England among British audiences. Following his miniseries, he retired to Hawaii.
